Project Overview
An interactive device with an integrated app that provides feedback and guidance for a LED-based, scalable intensity workout in a home environment.
Timeframe
2024 | The execution of this university project lasted 4 months.
My responsibilities
Being a small team, we were all involved in most of the project steps. My work, in particular, focused on the technical assembly and sketching side.
What I Learned
I gained experience on the more technical side of components, turning into reality design ideas that until that point we had only in our minds.
We did our homework.
Through interviews and questionnaires we found out that our target's main problem is time and…

We choose to focus our project on the reflex training topic.
Reflex training is often limited to very basic exercises. We wanted to take it to the next level, creating scalable LED-based workout routines.

From the compact size of the first concepts, we shifted towards a human-size piece of furniture.

Sketches & Prototypes
Being a fairly large prototype, before moving on to building it we wanted to make sure we had the best possible version, going through hundreds of different iterations. Once that was done, we moved on to assembling the individual LEDs and the structure, using a mix of 3D printing and prefabricated tubes.

Training & Living
The product will consist of an anodized metal structure, a main nylon wire, removable LEDs and a large adjustable screen. The structure will be visually light, so it can adapt to different home environments.
Interactions with the product will happen through two parts: the side table and the screen.

About the Table
The table serves as a versatile support for any object and also acts as the base for housing and charging the six LEDs.

About the Screen
Thanks to the screen interface, users can follow exercises correctly and organize their daily tasks, keeping their minds clear and ready for the workout.

Led System & Connection
The LEDs will be arranged under the table, with a total of six. The most important work involved fitting the components into the slimmest space possible. A key feature of the LEDs is the top casing, which has been treated with a slightly frosted, semi-transparent finish. This allows the LEDs to create a pleasing diffused light effect when used in home lighting mode.

Thank you for taking the time to explore this project!
