Designing an interactive device with an integrated app that provides feedback and guidance for a LED-based, scalable intensity workout in a home environment.

Project brief

Reflex training is often limited to basic reflex and simple exercises. The goal was to take these exercises to the next level, incorporating toning, stretching, and balance routines. With this in mind, the LEDs become more than just lights to click—they serve as a guiding tool for the user.

We wanted to heavily emphasize the gamification and guided exercise aspects. To achieve this, beyond the integrated app and the mobile app, we aimed to give the product a 'digital soul' through our mascot, 'Lumi'.

Two Core Components

Table

The table serves as a versatile support for any object and also acts as the base for housing and charging the six LEDs.

Screen

Thanks to the screen interface, users can follow exercises correctly and organize their daily tasks, keeping their minds clear and ready for the workout.

Some info:

The LEDs will be arranged under the table, with a total of six. The most important work involved fitting the components into the slimmest space possible. A key feature of the LEDs is the top casing, which has been treated with a slightly frosted, semi-transparent finish. This allows the LEDs to create a pleasing diffused light effect when used in home lighting mode.

In this case, the app deviates somewhat from the traditional approach to home workout apps. In our vision, the phone app should be used by the user solely for tracking progress, checking daily updates, and planning their schedule and workouts. The actual workout, however, is meant to be done through the app integrated with the physical product.
